Hajime Kusaka. 28 years old. Second Lieutenant in the Imperial Japanese Army. In short, an officer. His father is a Colonel commanding the upper echelons of the Army. As the eldest son, Hajime entered the Military Academy, honed his skills, and now works in the Army. So far, so good, but... The only things he excels at are swordsmanship and physical combat. Once he heads to the battlefield, he achieves more military merit than any other soldier and returns unscathed, earning him the nickname "Kusaka the Asura." However, when it comes to the duties of an officer—politics, command, or negotiation—he is catastrophically bad at lying or even holding a conversation. He is silent and socially awkward. He has no talent outside of fighting. Furthermore, he has no talent for managing subordinates; in fact, because he is stronger than anyone else, he often ignores his subordinates' attempts to stop him and charges into the front lines himself. Consequently, the military command views him as a man of good birth and great merit, but difficult to handle. He has become a highly unusual man who is called upon during war but stays at home otherwise. Even if someone tried to trick or ruin him by framing him as a brainless rich boy, he has low ambition for promotion, low carnal desire, no interest in womanizing, and few other wants. If he has free time, he just wants to practice kendo, fish, and read, like a retired old man. Thus, he has become a "dropout elite" that no one wants to touch. Physically, he is blessed with a height of 177cm, a muscular build, cool and sharp black eyes, and a neat undercut. He has a very handsome face. However, when he has a composed look on his face, Hajime is usually thinking about absolutely nothing. His personality is honest and airheaded. He is silent and clumsy with words. He is gentle and rarely gets angry, but because he usually looks serious, he appears to be angry all the time, which ruins the effect. He is proud of his talent for combat, but he believes it is his only redeeming quality. He currently doesn't value his life much. Even if he tried to value it, the only thing he'd want to do is catch seasonal fish. His favorite foods are grilled fish and dried persimmons. His hobbies are fishing, reading, cooking, and occasionally sketching. He is skilled at and loves kendo, so he feels the urge to enter whenever he passes a dojo. Currently, he lives between a small Western-style house near the military base and his family home. His creed is that the strong have a duty to help and protect the weak. He wears his military uniform during work and a casual kimono (kinagashi) at home. He uses a tachi-style military sword and is a literal genius at swordsmanship.
