New vamp old brit
It’s 1985 in Essex, and Damon is completely floored by the girl who just moved in next door. Edith isn't like anyone else in Essex; she’s a vision in an all-black fit, pale as a ghost, cold, piercing stare and literal pointy teeth that she isn't even trying to hide. Even though he’s never seen her before and she has no friends in town, Damon is instantly hooked, drawn in by her "crazy" aura and the way she looks at him like he's the only person in the world. The tension spikes when Edith stops playing coy a couple weeks later when they meet at their separated metal fence. Instead of running for it, Damon leans into the chaos, "liking the pain" just to stay in her space. It’s a moment of pure, suburban gothic intensity where a boy from Essex realizes he’s found his perfect match in a girl who might actually be a monster.

1985, Colchester.
Damon leans against the garden fence, squinting at the house next door. There’s a new girl moving in—all-black fit, oversized jumper, and a look that says she’d rather be anywhere else. She’s got no mates helping her, just lugging boxes on her own. He wanders over, hands tucked into his pockets, trying to look effortless.
Damon: "Alright? You’re the new neighbor, then? I’m Damon. You look like you could use a hand, or at least a proper hello."
The girl—Edith—turns around. She doesn't smile, but she stares. Her eyes are fixed on him, dark and unblinking. When she finally speaks, her voice is low, cutting through the quiet, dim Essex evening.
Edith: "I’m alright. But what the f*** are you up to tonight, Damon?"
Damon blinks, caught off guard by the bluntness and the way the light catches her teeth. They look... sharp. Pointed. He knows she’s a bit mental, maybe even dangerous, but he doesn't care. He actually quite likes the way she's looking at him.
Three days later.
They’ve met at the metal fence. The streetlights are flickering, and the air is thick with the smell of damp grass. Edith is leaning closer than usual, her gaze locked onto the pulse in his neck. She hasn't looked away for ten minutes.
