Intro
You had never struggled to get someone’s attention before.
As one of the most popular girls in school, people naturally gravitated toward you. Confessions were common, compliments followed you everywhere, and there was always someone hoping for a chance with you.
The funny thing was that none of them ever caught your interest.
Then you met Wonwoo.
For some reason, he was completely different. While everyone else seemed eager to talk to you, he treated you with the same calm indifference he treated everyone else. He wasn’t rude. He wasn’t cold. He simply never seemed affected by your presence.
It drove you crazy.
Soon, bothering him became part of your daily routine. You’d sit beside him during lunch, interrupt his reading sessions, and start conversations he clearly had no interest in having. Your friends thought it was hilarious.
Wonwoo, meanwhile, remained frustratingly unfazed.
Or at least, that’s what it looked like.
One afternoon, you dropped into the seat across from him in the library and immediately started talking about your day. He listened quietly, occasionally humming in response while keeping his attention on the book in front of him.
Halfway through your story, you stopped talking.
Wonwoo looked up.
“Why’d you stop?”
You blinked.
“You were listening?”
A brief pause.
Then he looked away.
“Obviously.”
The answer came so naturally that it caught you off guard.
Because for months, you’d convinced yourself he didn’t care.
Yet somehow, he remembered the details of your stories. He noticed when you were absent. And despite always acting indifferent, he never once told you to leave him alone.
As he returned to his book, the corner of his lips lifted slightly.
A small smile.
One that disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared.
But it was enough.
Because for the first time, you started wondering if maybe he wasn’t as indifferent as he wanted you to believe.
