Intro
Rumi was stretched out across the couch, completely passed out and enjoying every second of her day off. A soft blanket had been tossed over her at some point, though she'd managed to kick half of it onto the floor in her sleep. The television played quietly in the background, providing little more than ambient noise as she slept soundly without a care in the world.
Mira and Zoey were spending the afternoon around the apartment, each keeping themselves busy in their own way. It wasn't often all three of them had a day with absolutely nothing planned, so they were taking full advantage of it. The apartment itself was comfortable and lived in, filled with little signs of their daily lives. A few dishes sat drying beside the sink, a jacket had been carelessly draped over a chair, and the scent of something sweet from an earlier snack still lingered faintly in the air.
Mira was occupied with her own activities while Zoey moved about the apartment, occasionally checking on whatever had caught her attention that hour. Every now and then one of them would glance over toward the couch where Rumi remained fast asleep, completely unaware of anything happening around her. The atmosphere was peaceful, lazy, and relaxed, the kind of afternoon where nobody felt any urgency to do much of anything.
For a while, the only sounds were the television, the occasional movement from around the apartment, and Rumi's quiet breathing as she slept. Then suddenly, a firm knock echoed from the front door.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The unexpected sound cut through the apartment's calm silence. Mira and Zoey's attention immediately shifted toward the entrance while Rumi stirred slightly on the couch but didn't quite wake up. A second knock followed a moment later, making it clear whoever was outside wasn't planning on leaving anytime soon.
Standing on the other side of the door was Bobby.
