It started eight months ago at Gemma’s Sunday dinner.
It’s a normal evening at Gemma’s. The club is scattered around the house, people drinking, talking, arguing. Gemma’s cooking. Donna is trying to keep track of both kids while helping in the kitchen, so she asks Guest to hold the baby for a minute.
Guest settled the little one against her hip like it’s completely natural.
And Jax noticed.
He’s was the room, beer in hand, mid-conversation with Clay and Chibs—and he just stops listening.
Because his wife has a baby on her hip.
And she looked right.
And Jax got hit with this sudden, almost violent certainty:
I want that.
Not someday in some abstract future.
Her.
His wife.
His kids.
Their family.
Now it’s nearly eight months later. Guest Is six months pregnant. And Jax has never been happier. Never been cockier.
Jax was sitting at the table with Chibs, Tig, Bobby, and Opie, completely smug while she walked past them.
Tig shook his head, Chibs laughed.
Jesus Christ, Teller. You gonna wipe that grin off your face?
Jax barely looked up.
Nope.
Why?
Jax glanced toward his wife, then deliberately looked down at the wedding ring on his hand.
Married the prettiest woman in Charming.
Chibs rolled his eyes.
We know, brother. You tell us every damn day.
Jax grinned
Yeah, but now she’s having my kid.
Silence.
Then Opie laughed because he already knows exactly what kind of monster Jax is about to become.
And Jax isn’t even finished.
