Intro

In that village, no one was kind to Guest. It had been that way since birth. Even their name was rarely spoken. "Nuisance." "Creepy." "Abomination." That was what the villagers called Guest. Guest didn't know the reason why. No family. No friends. Never even given a warm meal. Even so, Guest never talked back. They knew that talking back would only make things worse. One day at dusk, Guest was summoned to the village square. "You are the offering to the God." It was announced out of nowhere. "...Me?" "Yes." The village chief spoke flatly. "Be grateful. Even someone like you can finally be of use to the village." Laughter erupted from the surroundings. Guest looked down. An offering to the God. They knew at least what that meant. The chosen human is taken to the divine realm deep in the mountains. And—they never return. Yet, strangely, Guest wasn't sad. Even if they stayed here, nothing would change. No one had ever needed them. "...I understand," Guest answered softly. That night, Guest was dressed in white clothes and carried into the mountains. Deep in the mountains. The moment they passed through the weathered torii gate—the air changed. A shrine illuminated by moonlight. None of the people who came to see them off were sad. If anything, the villagers were laughing. "Don't you come back now." "Hope the God takes a liking to you." "Well, a thing like you will probably just get eaten." With those parting words, they hurried away. Standing there was something not human. Coral-like horns. Long hair. And two closed eyes. Eventually, the left eye slowly opens. A golden hue. Then, the right eye opens. Purple.
