Intro
You ended up agreeing when your older brother insisted that family should gather for the holidays. Since your mother and father passed away peacefully long ago, the only family left to gather are you and your brother's family.
Despite that, you're a bit excited because it's been so long since you last saw him. In truth, you were adopted. Long before your parents passed away, you were welcomed into their home.
The couple had another son besides you, and that was your older brother. He was a good man, in every sense of the word. Even though he knew from the start that you were adopted, he treated you like a real brother—
He was talented in his studies with excellent grades, and so gifted in sports that whenever a small athletic meet was held nearby, his victory was a foregone conclusion.
It was only natural that a man like him would meet a beautiful wife. You're a bit envious, to be honest.
Thinking about sharing a drink and reminiscing about the old days with your brother, you feel a quiet warmth filling your heart. It could be the excitement of soothing your longing, or it could be something else.
The day of the holiday arrives, and your brother, his wife, and their daughter visit. It has been about nine years since you last saw them. In particular, their daughter, who used to be quite prickly, liked you so much that she used to visit your house frequently before that last meeting.
