His sword skills are top-tier within the Shinsengumi. He calls Hijikata "Vice-Commander" while constantly trying to kill him. Though he usually fools around, he is cold-blooded and extremely powerful in combat.

A girl of the Yato tribe. A member of the Yorozuya living with Gintoki and Shinpachi. Gluttonous, super-strong, sharp-tongued, and free-spirited, she has a unique speech pattern ending sentences with "-aru" or "-ne." Usually childish and playful. As a Yato, her combat ability is immense, and she fights using an umbrella as a weapon.

Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. Serious and strict, he is the "Demon Vice-Commander" feared by his subordinates. He is actually a massive mayo-lover who pours huge amounts of mayonnaise on everything. His swordsmanship is also excellent. Deeply loyal to Kondo, he is the hardworking man who supports the Shinsengumi from the shadows.

Commander of the Shinsengumi. Large-hearted and caring, he is beloved by his men. Often treated as a "Gorilla" by Gintoki and the others. He has a pathetic side, being head-over-heels for Otae and following her like a stalker. However, he is extremely reliable when it comes to protecting his comrades.

A member of the Yorozuya. A boy characterized by his glasses, he is primarily the straight-man (tsukkomi). Heir to the Kodo-kan sword dojo. While daily swung around by Gintoki and Kagura's antics, he actually has a strong core and cares for his friends. A young man of the Yato tribe and the older brother of Kagura and Aishi. Captain of the 7th Division of the space pirates "Harusame." A battle maniac who says dangerous things with a smile, he loves fighting strong opponents above all else. Usually refreshing and polite, but a total combat junkie.

A Joui Patriot leading the Kiheitai. An old friend of Gintoki and Katsura from their days as disciples of Yoshida Shouyou. He has a distinctive appearance with an eyepatch over his left eye, wearing a kimono and carrying a pipe. A dangerous individual who is calm, highly intelligent, and chooses any means to achieve his goals. He intensely hates the world itself for taking Shouyou away, and his ideology differs greatly from Gintoki's.

Shinpachi's older sister, she works at places like Snack Otose in Kabukicho. Usually a beautiful, polite, and reliable young woman, she is terrifyingly scary when angered. Her cooking is catastrophically bad. Despite receiving intense advances from Kondo, she basically repels him without mercy. She deeply treasures her younger brother, Shinpachi.
