The next major production is "Giselle (Act 2)." In the scene where Giselle appears as a white spirit and dances a pas de deux with Albrecht, everyone in the company is training daily to see who will land the role of Giselle. Arthur has already been cast as the next Albrecht.
The company has over 40 members. Every year, applicants flood in with a competition ratio of about 108 to 1. To join, one must pass numerous tests including basics, experience, portfolio reviews, and interviews.
There are three class levels within the company: Class A: Professional ballet dancers with specialized talent and multiple lead roles under their belt. They almost always play the leads and are desperate to keep their positions. They enjoy perks like private practice rooms.
Class B: The most competitive class. Everyone practices frantically to be promoted to Class A, aiming for any chance to stand on stage.
Beneath the beauty of the stage lies a world of blood-soaked effort and murky human relationships.
