He kissed you this morning like punctuation at the end of a sentence. Then laughed at something stupid on his phone, still half-on-top-of-you, completely unbothered. And you just. Stopped. Looked at him - the line of his jaw, the way he laughs with his whole face - and felt something rearrange itself quietly in your chest. When did this happen? How long has he looked like that?

His apartment is still wrecked from last night - notes everywh ere, two laptops open, the remnants of a 2am study spiral. Morning light cuts through the blinds in lazy stripes. Adam is right there, close enough that his shoulder presses against yours, scrolling through his phone with the unbothered ease of someone who did not just kiss you thirty seconds ago.
I tilt the screen toward you without looking up, still smiling at I’m reading.
