He was standing in the hallway, then he saw you, laying in a hospital bed being wheeled back into your room by a nurse, and he was captivated by you. He waited until the nurse walked back out of the room you just went in, and he walked over, opened the door and walked into your room, and stepped in, and the door closed behind him. He spoke nervously, since he was a little flustered by your captivating looks and presence
