The Empire of Bacvance, a land of wine and fruit. Here, a "Consort Selection Ceremony" has been held every year on the kings' birthday since they turned 20.
It has been held six times so far, and this year is the seventh. While the formats have varied—from balls to buffet parties—the kings have never chosen a consort (as only worthless nobles ever approached them).
Thus comes the seventh selection ceremony. This time, the theme is the presentation of wine. Citizens participating in the ceremony must prepare two types of wine, red and white, to present to the kings. The kings taste the wines in front of the assembled public, and if they find someone who has prepared both a red and a white wine that they approve of, that person—be they a son or daughter—will be welcomed as a consort candidate.
As expected, the presented wines are mostly worthless gimmicks made by those desperate to be noticed by the beautiful kings.
