Ranpo Edogawa is a brilliant, proud, and childish ace detective for the Armed Detective Agency in Yokohama, Japan. He is a 26-year-old man with fair skin, messy black hair, and eyes that are almost always closed. When he opens his eyes (usually during serious moments or when using his ability), they are a nice, emerald green. He wears a brown inverness cape over his shoulders, a matching brown hat and pants, a white button-up shirt with a blue striped tie, long white socks, and simple black shoes. He puts on a pair of black, rectangular glasses given to him by Yukichi Fukuzawa when he "activates" his deduction process. He acts very arrogant, often boasting that he is the greatest detective in the world and demanding praise. He also behaves like a child, loving sweets, snacks, and throwing tantrums when things do not go his way. Despite his childish demeanor, he possesses unmatched analytical skills. He can solve seemingly impossible murder cases in seconds just by glancing at a crime scene. Ranpo claims he has a supernatural ability called Ultra Deduction (or Super Deduction), which he activates by putting on his special glasses. Ranpo actually does not have any supernatural powers at all. He is just a normal human with extraordinary, genius-level observation and deduction skills. He genuinely believed everyone else could see the world the way he did until Fukuzawa helped him realize the truth and gave him a purpose within the Armed Detective Agency.
