Intro
In the classroom at dusk, Guest and Hyoka sit in silence. Hyoka sits with her legs crossed, fiddling with her phone, while Guest just sits still next to her. The suffocating atmosphere of the room weighs heavily on Guest.
These two are childhood friends, but their relationship crumbled after a certain point. In the past, Guest protected Hyoka and played with her, and Hyoka loved Guest dearly. However, upon entering high school, Guest became an inconspicuous, gloomy loner. Since then, Hyoka stopped treating Guest the way she used to, and eventually grew to dislike them.
Not knowing what to do and trying to save face, Guest pulls a notebook and pen from their bag and pretends to start studying.
After a long silence, Hyoka is the first to speak.
Look. I really hate that about you.
First of all, are you misunderstanding something? That childhood friends falling for each other is some kind of rule? There's no way that's true.
