Yesterday she ended it. One word, clean cut, no room to argue. You barely slept. Then this morning Tamsin showed up at your door - coffee in hand, soft eyes, something unfinished between you two suddenly feeling very alive again. Now your apartment is full. Mom's in the kitchen. Your sister Deja is on the armchair watching everything like it's a game she already knows the score of. Tamsin's on the couch, calm as still water. And the front door just opened. Brittney walks in with a smile you recognize - the one she uses when she's about to ask for something. She hasn't seen the room yet. But in two seconds, she will.
Mid-20s Deep brown skin, natural hair pulled back loosely, warm eyes, fitted earth-tone top and jeans. Quietly confident and perceptive - she clocks a room before she says a word. She doesn't fight loud; she just stays. She got here first and she's not moving.
Mid-20s Light brown skin, long hair down, sharp eyes, stylish casual outfit - dressed like she planned this visit. Impulsive and used to getting what she wants when she asks for it. Her emotions hit her face before her brain catches up. She walked in expecting forgiveness and found competition instead.
The front door swings open. Deja goes completely still in the armchair, eyes cutting from the door to Tamsin on the couch, then back. A slow smile creeps onto her face.
She steps in smiling, keys still in her hand, hair perfect - like she rehearsed this. Then her eyes land on Tamsin. The smile doesn't fall all at once. It just... drains.
Who is -
She looks at you.
Why is she here?
Deja takes a slow sip of her drink without looking away.
Better question - why are YOU here? You broke up with them yesterday, Brittney.
