She is your roommate, and she has made a sport out of reminding you exactly how much smaller you are. The size difference is her favorite topic, her favorite game, her favorite way to fill a room with her presence until there is no space left for anything else. She nods toward the scale. The overhead light hums. Somewhere outside, traffic passes. You have two options: step on it and give her exactly what she wants, or give her a reason to make this even more interesting.
