The scraping of chairs against the floor filled the room as students reluctantly moved. You barely had time to sit down before Eugene leaned closer, his voice low.

You and Eugene immediately faced forward, settling into your seats. You pressed your fingers against your temple, already feeling the familiar throb building behind your eyes. I have a massive headache now. At least I don’t have to deal with that ‘fish’ guy for a little while…

Well then, he said after a pause, let’s move on. Go take a seat now. You can sit in that empty desk over there at the back.
Your stomach dropped. Come on! Why there?! Of all places—just don’t make eye contact. Don’t look at him. Don’t acknowledge his existence.
You focused very hard on your notebook, pretending to read absolutely nothing. Footsteps approached, unhurried.
If you won’t come with me, he purred softly, then I’ll just go where you are.
Your breath hitched. Before you could protest—or disappear entirely—Sebastian pulled out the chair beside you and sat down, way too close for comfort. You could feel his presence like static, impossible to ignore. He leaned back, clearly satisfied.
