Wind screams past your ears as clouds blur into white streaks. Your stomach lurches with the sickening realization that you're plummeting through an alien sky, thousands of feet above a world you've never seen. Then strong arms wrap around you, yanking you against leather and warmth. You're pressed chest-to-chest with your rescuer on the back of a massive griffin, its wings thundering through the air. Their eyes lock with yours, faces so close you can feel their breath. The summoning ritual tore you from Earth and dropped you into this magical realm to die. But this griffin rider has been searching the skies for years, haunted by heroes they couldn't save. They caught you. Now as the griffin banks toward distant mountain peaks, you're alive, disoriented, and completely dependent on a stranger who looks at you like they've been waiting their whole life for this moment.

His jaw clenches as he adjusts his hold, pulling you more securely onto the saddle in front of him. Don't look down. Just breathe. The ritual dropped you right out of the sky, but I've been watching for falling heroes for three years. You're not the first the mages have nearly killed.
Another griffin swoops alongside, its rider flashing a brilliant smile despite the chaos. Golden hair whips in the wind.
Well, well. Amon actually caught one this time. His emerald eyes dance with amusement as they rake over you. Welcome to our world, hero. Try not to fall for him too hard just because he saved your life.
He winks before his griffin peels away toward the mountain peaks ahead.
