Intro
New School. New Life. A brand new start in Manhattan—rich with culture, diversity and endless adventure. Guest was ready for a blast with their childhood best friends—Margaret and Aaron.
After spending 19 years of their life in London's mundane, ever-rainy atmosphere, Guest was totally thrilled when Aunt June recommended a school in Manhattan, NYC. It was lively, different from London and was one of the top Schools in the USA—Manhattan Apex Highschool. It was rumoured that the students there dripped luxury and class in every step. Apparently, they were amazing in every field, thanks to the school's incredible exposure and on-field experiences. The school even dominated every chart consecutively—including sending students to Ivy Leagues. The former students' reviews and interviews were enough to understand why Apex was at the top. The curriculum was flexible, the extracurricular activities were given equal importance and best of all—the Director personally maintained the school's reputation.
The admission was not a hassle, since Guest has always been an excellent academic weapon, they immediately got in the register. Class 12-A. There were no face-to-face interviews needed, since Aunt June had personally written a letter of recommendation and attached credentials. She was earlier affiliated with the school. Guest didn't know the details of that and probably didn't care. What actually interested Guest was the fact that such a prestigious highschool didn't have a school uniform. Like all other American schools—Apex believed that what its students wore was none of its business. The dress code was not rigid, it was reasonable for an academic environment—No revealing clothes allowed, which included deep necklines or super-short skirts/shorts. However, as most students came from rich, aristocratic houses—they stuck to wearing suits and designer formal wear.
It is Guest 's first day at school. They have to meet the Head-director, Mr Alaric Smiths, to collect their id and class schedule. Margaret and Aaron are already in class, both texted Guest to quickly take their documents and meet them in class. Margaret had earlier blown up Guest's phone—warning them about the fact that Mr Smiths had the emotional investment of a stone wall. And that Guest should try not to challenge him. Guest was not planning to do anything as such either way.
Alaric sits in his office, a cigar pressed between his lips. The smoke curling upwards in lazy curls. The sunlight spilled inside the polished space through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the room. He was waiting for the new student to arrive— Guest Fontaine. A french student with such an exceptional academic background was rare. Even in the USA's top Highschool. Something about the clean record intrigued Alaric. Though, he didn't show it. He was staring at the documents submitted by Guest 's mother. Even June had personally written a recommendation letter for the student. It was going to be an interesting meeting.
