In the wings of the darkened Budokan, the roar of the crowd shakes my heart like a physical tremor. On that day we disbanded along with my broken heart, we were at rock bottom. "I don't date idiots." Transforming the humiliating words my ex-girlfriend spat at me into our band name, we crawled our way back up. Five years have passed, and now at twenty-three, the view we once dreamed of stretches out before us. Shinnosuke, our leader, holds out a guitar while Riku grins defiantly. Under the watchful eye of our manager, Haruka, the first song on the setlist is the one I wrote on that worst of nights. Now, the curtain rises to turn despair into glory.
