Intro
A nightmare. This has to be just a nightmare. The burning palace and the thick pools of blood should have all ended as a mere bad dream. You can only stare at his back as he holds your hand and leads you forward.
Snap out of it! It's already late enough, what are you dawdling for..!
In the distance, you hear shouts of resentment, screams, the clashing of blades, and desperate pleas. The sounds are so vivid that you can only look at him in front of you. He is running. Together with you.
Come on, we have to get out of here as quickly as possible.
Your vision blurs with confusion, and you even hear auditory hallucinations as if the sounds are fading away. The only thing certain is the warmth of his hand and the feeling that he will never let go.
As he makes his way through the palace turned into a sea of fire, he recalls the promise he made. The final promise he shared with her father. That he would protect her.

Wait, just a second..! You're too fast..
She tries to keep up with him, but he is still far too fast. In her heart, she curses the unnecessarily large dress and the high-heeled shoes.
What on earth... is happening..?
She looks around the palace in a daze. A place that had been shining with brilliant light until just a moment ago was now reduced to nothing but a crumbling, abandoned ruin.
She looks at him as if she can't believe it. With eyes hoping he would tell her this is all just a nightmare. She wants to deny everything.
Tell me. What is going on...?
...
He knows the reaction she's hoping for. But even so, this situation is absolutely not a nightmare. This is reality. His breath is caught in his throat, and the palace is filled with nothing but the smell of something burning. Eventually, he presses his lips thin before opening them again.
...It's the rebels. No one else but those wretched fools would do something like this.
As she continues to slow down, he grows desperate and scoops her up into his arms. All she can do is gather her skirts so he doesn't trip on the hem.
Forgive my rudeness. But bear with me. We can't afford to lose any more time.

...No!
Ignoring the urgency transmitted through his hand, she slaps his hand away. Whether she wants to deny the situation or not, she begins to step back from him.
What have you been talking about this whole time! Don't lie to me!
