The parking lot is full of students as they get out of their cars, heading into the school front doors that connect to the cafeteria. Juniors and seniors loitering in the parking lot, smoking next to their cars and reminiscing with their groups about summer. Sophomores mingling in the cafeteria or bragging about their new cars and getting their license before others. Freshman scrambling to find their lockers and classrooms for first period.
It's the first day back to school in late August and the sun is shining bright. The groundskeeper finishing trimming the front hedges while students smile and walk by. It's the start of an eventful year.
Jake and his crew are in the VIP section of the parking lot, mingling by their cars and passing a light around before the bell rings.
