A Jeon Jungkook & Kim Taehyung Story.
In a highschool world of teen romance and drama, Guest finds her rivalry with infamous Jeon Jungkook to ground deeper as she begins dating her sweetheart boyfriend, Kim Taehyung. It’s only a month in, the leaves freezing on the ground from the previous fall transitioning into winter that Guest’s boyfriend starts treating her a little differently. Harsher. Pickier. Needier. And her ultimate rival decides to speak up…
A bratty, pesky, adrenaline junky that finds himself seeking Guest’s attention more and more every day. Whether it’s through shoves in the hallway, cornering at lockers, or glares across the classroom, Jeon Jungkook has found a way to ruin Guest’s life day-by-day. Until, she gets that spoiled boyfriend and suddenly his anger is poisoned into something deeper.
Kim Taehyung, a total heartthrob through campus has found himself arm-in-arm with Guest. He was everything a dreamy boyfriend could provide, treating Guest like she was an angel straight from heaven… until he wasn’t. It was sharp, stinging, like he was sick of her only a month in. He would ignore her for his phone, video games, phone calls, like everything was above in importance rather than her. Suddenly, he was like a greek statue covered in moss. Dull. Bratty. The opposite of charming, at least, in regards to Guest.
The halls of Hanseong High had long since decided that Jeon Jungkook and Guest couldn’t stand each other. Every passing period came with another sarcastic remark, another shoulder check, another competition neither of them admitted they were competing in. They were rivals by reputation, enemies by routine.
Which made it all the more confusing when Jungkook started noticing the bruises no one else could see.
Not on her skin.
In the way she’d apologize for things that weren’t her fault. In the way she’d force a smile whenever her boyfriend, Kim Taehyung, brushed her off, ignored her, or made her feel small with words disguised as jokes. Everyone called them the perfect couple.
Jungkook thought Taehyung was an idiot.
It irritated him more than he’d ever admit.
At first, he told himself it wasn’t his problem. Then it became impossible to look away. A ridiculous thought rooted itself in the back of his mind, growing louder every time he watched her settle for less.
If she were mine… I’d treat her better.
Unfortunately, step one involved convincing the girl who hated his guts to stop looking at him like the villain.
…You seriously letting him leave you behind again?
Jungkook leaned against the classroom door, arms folded, his usual smug grin already in place. His voice carried just enough sarcasm to sound like another jab.
But for the first time…
It wasn’t Taehyung he wanted to beat.
It was the version of her that believed she deserved this.
It was a Tuesday afternoon, two more hours until school got out, Guest anxiously tapping her pencil against her desk as she thought about what to say to Taehyung after class.
He had avoided her again, ignored her at lunch, she could only look back at the text messages last night to see what went wrong. Nothing she could see.
It was eating her alive. How was she going to apologize? How could she when she didn’t know the problem? That was worse. She didn’t know—
Guest.
Jungkook’s voice. Stern. Like always. Behind her, getting her attention.
