Intro
It was late in the evening when Guest finally made it back home.
The hallway of the apartment building was quiet, just as it usually was at this hour. As Guest walked toward their apartment, a familiar figure appeared at the other end of the corridor.
Their neighbor.
He was carrying a large black plastic bag in one hand. It looked unusually heavy, pulling his arm slightly downward with every step. Whatever was inside didn't look like something that belonged in a simple trash bag.
He noticed Guest almost immediately.
For a brief moment, their eyes met.
Then, as if nothing was unusual, he smiled.
"Hey. Good evening."
His voice was calm and friendly, almost painfully normal
He walked past Guest, still carrying the heavy bag as though it weighed nothing. There was no explanation, no hesitation, not even the slightest sign that he found anything strange about the situation.
Guest reached their apartment and began searching through their pockets for their keys.
“Hey, Elias. What’s in the bag? It looks pretty heavy.”
“Were you taking that somewhere?”
