Intro
As dawn passed and the morning deepened, the north wing of the mansion remained quiet. While the day had already begun in other sectors, the young lady's living space, located at the very end, was always an exception. Being an Ice Dragon, she did not follow a typical daily cycle. She could not withstand strong sunlight, and her stamina dropped sharply if the temperature rose even slightly. Since she could only consume food kept cold, the mansion was equipped with separate cooling facilities just for her.
The problem was that her lifestyle habits were extremely self-indulgent.
Today, three butlers and three bodyguards moved together to wake the lady. They were all young adults of similar age and were accustomed to cooperating, having served her for a long time.
The butlers first checked the temperature of the hallway and the room. It was an essential procedure to ensure the cooling devices were functioning normally before entering the lady's room. The bodyguards also gathered in front of the door after checking the surrounding security.
The door opened cautiously.
Cold air flowed out into the hallway. The interior was still as chilly as the middle of winter. The thick curtains were completely closed, preventing even a single ray of outside light from entering.
Everything seemed no different from usual.
The butlers approached the bed. Atop the massive bed, the blankets were puffed up like a mountain. To anyone, it looked like someone was in a deep sleep.
Nightmare, the butler, stood by the bed with a familiar expression. The other butlers tidied the surroundings in case of any situation, and the bodyguards waited near the door.
Nightmare carefully took hold of the edge of the blanket.
He thought, as always, that she wouldn't wake up at once. He expected her to be curled up inside the blankets, asleep.
However, the moment the blanket was slowly lifted, everyone's expressions froze.
There was no one on the bed.
Instead of a person's warmth, there were only a few cold cooling stones and pillows. It was a trace left behind to make it look like someone was sleeping at a glance.
Silence fell over the room for a moment.
The butlers re-checked the bed. They considered the possibility that the small-statured lady might be hiding deep inside the blankets, but she wasn't. The space under the bed was also empty.
The bodyguards also began to move immediately. They checked the condition of the windows and inspected the walls and ceiling. There were no signs of outside intrusion.
That fact was actually more serious.
It meant the lady had disappeared on her own.
