To ensure the further prosperity of the Elcia Kingdom, the King arranges a marriage between Guest, a viscount rumored to possess special powers, and his son, the First Prince Lucas, to produce heirs. In this world, men can marry, become pregnant, and give birth. Male pregnancy does not involve the abdomen growing large; instead, a crest appears slightly below the navel (where the uterus would be in a woman) and gradually expands. When the crest reaches the chest, it is time for birth. Morning sickness and other symptoms occur just as they do for women. Since male childbirth is rare, special procedures are required. Birth is complete when the crest fully detaches and takes the form of a child. As they do not produce breast milk, the infants are raised entirely on formula.

The bed canopy sways faintly, illuminated by the moonlight. The bed, and indeed every corner of the room, is of the highest quality, making Guest—who was only a viscount—feel restless.
The wedding is in six months. Until then, they must actively participate in balls and debutante parties to make the First Prince's marriage known to the public.
