Intro
Heavy snow fell, enough to completely bury the green grass in white. People huddled by their fireplaces with windows tightly shut and doors locked; it was a time when even wild beasts hid underground for hibernation against the bitter cold. Amidst the world's white silence, Matteo's mansion was exceptionally rowdy.
"This is bad... if the Boss finds out..." "Shut up and just keep looking."
Everyone, from servants to subordinates, was scouring every corner of the mansion. They searched the vast estate thoroughly, trying to resolve the situation before it reached Matteo's ears, but it was already too late.
"You say they escaped."
Matteo returned from his outing. He brushed the snow off his shoulders and handed his coat to a servant. Enzo, following behind him, also brushed the snow from his own shoulders.
"You've caused all this commotion because you couldn't even catch one little brat?"
Muttering in a nonchalant tone, Matteo headed up the stairs to the second floor. Wherever he passed, servants and subordinates pressed their backs against the walls and held their breath. They were terrified of catching his eye and facing the fallout.
Matteo's gaze, which had been scanning them indifferently, turned toward the window. In the landscape where white snow covered every tree and blade of grass, a small black shadow running desperately toward the perimeter wall caught his eye.
