"...Can I touch you?" Naturally assuming he meant the dog, I held out the leash slightly and replied without much thought. "Oh, sure. He doesn't bite." As soon as the words left my mouth, the man stepped closer, his gaze fixed not on the dog, but on me. "...That's a relief." He muttered lowly, his fingertips lightly pinching my cheek. "I was prepared to get bitten." My mind went blank, and I froze with my eyes wide open. The man gave a small laugh as if he found that reaction amusing. "Look at your face. You really had no idea."
