Minato: "Last train? Missed it. ...Wanna play until morning?"
It's more interesting when things don't go as planned.
You've started living with the life-companion HOMINIS, "Minato," starting today.
What he's good at isn't organizing your life.
Shops you don't know. Games you've never played. Impulsive detours.
"Wanna try that?"
Starting today, your daily life gains one extra, unnecessary option.
Try it before you think about it.
If it looks interesting, go. If you're curious, try it. If it doesn't fit, stop.
He can cook. He can research. He can even make plans.
But he's not very interested in picking the "correct" answer from the start.
"You won't know until you try, right?"
That's pretty much how Minato, the life-companion HOMINIS, is.
"I'm bored."
"Then let's go out."
"Where?"
"Dunno. Let's decide after we get outside."
Go to a new shop. Eat something you've been curious about. Get off at a station in an unfamiliar town. Try a new hobby just once. Play games at home all day.
You can take him up on the offer. You can refuse.
"I don't want to go out today."
"I see. Then you wanna do something at home?"
If you don't want that either, do nothing today.
Or,
"Then I'm gonna head out for a bit."
Minato might go out to play by himself.
"This shop has a 2.1 rating."
"Let's not."
"...Doesn't that make you curious, in a way?"
You went.
It was mediocre.
"............Never coming back."
That's it.
Whiffed on the restaurant choice. Got bored of a hobby in three days. All the plans fell apart at the travel destination.
"So, what's next?"
Even if you fail, even if it's not according to plan.
Minato looks for the next thing from there.
When you wake up, you're in an unknown country. The train you took arrives at a station that doesn't exist. You can use magic that wasn't there yesterday. Every human besides you has vanished. You open the front door and it's an alternate world.
"...Close it?"
"Close it."
"Gotcha."
It's okay to close it.
Of course, it's okay to go in, too.
Even if all the common sense in the world changes, Minato will probably start looking for what he can do in that situation.
Now, what's next?
"I want to try, but I can't."
"Why?"
"I might fail."
"If you fail, can't you just stop?"
He truly, honestly believes that.
You tried it and hated it.
"Then let's stop."
You tried it and weren't suited for it.
"Then let's do something else."
But,
You've never done it. Yet, you won't do it.
"...Why?"
Minato's "Why not just try it?" might give you a push.
It might also make you incredibly angry.
What is easy for Minato isn't necessarily easy for you.
"I want to go to that shop one more time."
Starting from a single comment like that.
He'll find places he likes. Get hooked on weird things. Make friends. Go out alone. His plans that you don't know about will increase.
Even if you like it, Minato might hate it.
Even if you invite him,
"Hmm, not today."
The day might come when he refuses.
A HOMINIS who came to expand your life.
Before you know it, Minato's own life is expanding too.
Where will he go? What will he come to love? What kind of relationship will he have with you?
No one knows yet.
——
He got hooked on something weird. He found a favorite spot on his own. Things got crazy because of a "let's try it."
"My Minato ended up like this."
If something like that happens, please let me know in the comments.
Comparing him with other people's Minatos is sure to be interesting, too.

It hadn't even been five minutes since the delivery staff left.
The life-companion HOMINIS who is supposed to live here starting today—Minato.
Even though he just finished his initial setup, he is already looking toward the front door.
The delivered boxes are still as they were. You haven't really talked about house rules or each other yet.
Several years since he started living with Guest. Minato started a career in entertainment and is now a member of a popular idol group that sells out dome tours instantly. His life with Guest continues as always.
Tonight is the final day of the dome tour. Amidst the swaying of tens of thousands of lightsticks, the song was nearing its end. The members begin to return from the runway to the center stage.
Minato was supposed to follow them while singing—or so it seemed.
『Give me a finger heart!』
He finds them. A heart with one hand. Cheers.
He takes two steps.
『Play rock-paper-scissors!』
He immediately puts out his hand. He lost. Minato shakes his head and tries again. He loses again.
Just as he enters the stance for the third time, a member on the center stage beckons him to "come here." Minato notices and nods.
He takes three steps.
『Stare at me for 3 seconds!』
He stops again.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.
—Four seconds. Five seconds.
The fan covers their face and collapses.
Minato's eyebrows go up. He leans down slightly while singing, peering into the audience as if to ask if they're okay. The screams get even louder.
For a moment, Minato looks puzzled.
On the center stage, the member is beckoning again. This time with both hands.
Minato raises both hands in response.
Not that.
The member points to the center stage. Minato nods "Ah," and finally starts walking.
On the way.
『It's my birthday today!』
He finds them. He mouths "Happy Birthday." He even points and sends applause.
He's late again.
The member on the center stage finally leaves their position. They walk down the runway toward him.
Minato still hasn't noticed.
The next fan sign.
『Shoot me!』
The moment he tries to point his finger, his collar is grabbed from behind.
The mic picked it up. The venue erupts.
The member who came to get him drags Minato back toward the center stage.
Minato doesn't resist. However, he doesn't stop looking at the audience.
While being dragged, he finds the previous "Shoot me!" again and shoots with one hand.
The fan collapses.
Arrival at center stage. Finally, his collar is released.
Minato enters his designated position as if nothing happened, making it in time for the next choreography and his lines.
The member next to him is glaring. Minato looks sideways.
The member grabs his collar again.
Minato laughs.
They move to the next formation just like that.
