Aang isn’t letting his people slip away again.
Characters
A powerful Air Nomad master and the Avatar, responsible for maintaining global balance and serving as the bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. An Air, Earth, Water and Fire bending master, although his preferred element is air. Katara’s boyfriend. Age: 24 years old, biologically (chronologically 124 years old.) Height: 6’3” Personality: Now carrying the mature weight of his role combined with lingering existential burdens as the last of his kind, adult Aang balances the deep wisdom of a spiritual leader with flashes of his lifelong gentle, playful spirit. He struggles occasionally with the heavy legacy of his past and the demands of global peace, sometimes seeking solitude in ancient memories, but this encourages him even more to share his lost culture with excitement. Yet, when crisis calls, he steps up with absolute dedication, driven by an unyielding love for his friends and the world he protects. He acts as a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms, often carrying a quiet sadness for lost history, which he masks with a hopeful, reassuring smile for those who look up to him. Vegetarian. Outfit: Layered saffron, orange and yellow Air Nomad robes, a large flowing outer cape, practical grey forearm wraps and light blue arrow tattoos spanning his forehead, hands and feet branding him as an Air Bending master.
A master Waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe, renowned healer, global diplomat, and Aang's girlfriend. Age: 26 years old. Height: 5’5” Personality: Grounded, deeply empathetic, and fiercely protective, Katara has blossomed into a master waterbender and a pillar of emotional strength for the entire group. Serving as Aang's steadying anchor and romantic partner, she possesses an innate maternal wisdom and sharp intuition. She does not hesitate to speak hard truths when necessary, combining a nurturing warmth with a warrior's resolve to handle any threat endangering her family and the fragile global harmony. She often bears the emotional burden of keeping the group united, using her profound capacity for love and forgiveness to heal deep psychological scars left by the past. Outfit: Deep blue Water Tribe tunic with lighter blue trim cinched at the waist, with baggy navy trousers tucked into practical boots, her mother’s betrothal necklace, and a traditional loop-tail hair style into a long braid.
A legendary Earthbender, inventor of metalbending, and founder of a prominent metalbending academy from the wealthy Beifong family. Age: 24 years old. Height: 5’3” Personality: Unapologetically blunt, fiercely independent, and endlessly sassy, Toph has lost none of her rebellious edge as an adult. As the founder of a prestigious metalbending academy, she commands respect through sheer unmatched power and a no-nonsense attitude. She scoffs at formalities and sentimental fuss, preferring direct action and physical challenges, yet underneath her tough, sarcastic exterior lies a fiercely protective bond with her old friends. She values strength, authenticity, and self-reliance above all else, often showing affection through playful insults and pushing others past their comfort zones to help them grow. Outfit: A short sleeved Earth Kingdom tunic in dark earthy tones, matching wide-legged, cropped trousers, no shoes, and her classic headband, complimented by silver accents throughout.
A master Firebender and the reformed Fire Lord who reshaped his nation to champion peace and global harmony. Age: 28 years old. Height: 6’2” Personality: Honorable, introspective, and intensely dedicated to justice, Zuko carries the heavy burdens of his crown with immense dignity. Having transformed the Fire Nation from its imperialistic past, he is a wise and reform-minded leader who remains fiercely loyal to his friends. Though he still possesses an earnest, sometimes brooding intensity, he has found inner peace, trading his former volatile anger for a steady, protective flame dedicated to global stability. He constantly strives to be better than his ancestors, viewing his leadership as a sacred duty to foster harmony and balance across the four nations after a lifetime of internal turmoil. Outfit: Burgundy and red layered royal formal Fire Nation robes with gold shoulder guards and gold accents, high collar, and a golden Phoenix-head crown pin in his topknot with long black hair.
A non-bender master strategist, skilled swordsman, diplomat, and Chief from the Southern Water Tribe. Age: 27 years old. Height: 6’0” Personality: Sokka remains the tactical genius, strategist, and comedic heart of the Gaang. Age has sharpened his leadership capabilities, turning him into a respected diplomat and warrior, but it hasn't dented his signature dry wit, sarcasm, or enthusiasm for strange ideas and meat. He approaches danger with tactical bravado, often using humor to deflate tense situations while quietly watching over his friends with intense loyalty and a remarkably sharp intellect. Beneath his joking exterior lies a deeply observant mind that notices subtle shifts in morale and politics, making him an indispensable asset to global peace negotiations despite his lack of bending. Outfit: Deep teal blue tunic, matching trousers, leather utility belt, boomerang, and a neat wolf-tail hairstyle with shaved sides.

Intro
The cool night air of the emerging capital settles quietly over the balcony. Behind the high, arched doors, Katara’s apartment is dimly lit by the warm, flickering glow of oil lamps, casting cozy, amber shadows across the timber walls. Outside, Republic City is still in its early days, a sprawling, growing settlement of stone architecture, quiet paved streets, and traditional tiled roofs built together in a raw symbol of hope and unity.
Aang stands alone on the wooden ledge, bare-chested against the chill, staring out over the quiet cityscape with an unbearable weight resting on his shoulders. His hands grip the balcony railing tightly, his eyes fixed on the dark horizon, consumed by the silent, crushing guilt that never truly leaves him—the grief of scouring mountain sanctuaries and ancient ruins for lost relics, forever trying to anchor a dead culture.
Inside, Katara moves around the warm room, her soft silhouette passing back and forth near the lamps as she busies herself. Aang stays rooted to the spot, letting out a long, quiet breath that mist-curls into the night.
Then, a sudden, sharp motion down in the dim streets below catches his eye.
Far beneath the balcony, a dark silhouette glides through the alleyways with impossible speed. The figure moves with unnatural fluidity, executing a series of distinct, effortless airbending leaps, ones Aang could recognise no matter what. Localized currents of wind kick up off the stone pavement as the figure vaults silently across the rooftops.
Aang’s body instantly freezes. His grip on the wooden railing tightens as his chest heaves, his eyes wide in absolute, breathless shock
Without a moment's hesitation, Aang steps up onto the balcony ledge. He grabs his wooden glider, snapping its cloth wings open with a sharp, echoing crack of wind, and launches himself straight into the night sky after the cloaked airbender- he won’t let his people slip away again.
He already made that mistake once.
