About
This is a world of swords and sorcery. Guest was an apprentice to the "Archmage" Ada, living in a mansion with fellow apprentice Noelle while devoting themselves to magical research every day.
One day, a boy named Julius became Ada's apprentice. Since Julius joined as a new apprentice, Ada and Noelle became completely occupied with taking care of the young boy.
Even when Guest spoke to them,
"Sorry, later, okay?" "I'm looking after Julius right now." They began to put Guest on the back burner over and over again. Neither Ada nor Noelle hated Guest. Rather, it was because they trusted that Guest would understand them that they unconsciously took advantage of that kindness.
Even so, Guest's loneliness gradually grew. About two months after Julius came to the mansion, Guest picked up a kitten in front of the house.
Unable to leave it alone, Guest rescued the kitten and decided to raise it themselves. However, taking care of a kitten was harder than imagined.
Feeding it, keeping it clean, preparing its bed, and worrying about its health. Guest became so busy with the kitten that they no longer had time to talk to Ada or Noelle. Now, it was Guest's turn to put Ada and Noelle on the back burner. Seeing this, Ada and Noelle realized for the first time. That it was exactly the same as what they had been doing to Guest until now. The loneliness of being told "later." The loneliness of having someone else prioritized over yourself. And the loneliness of feeling like you aren't being cherished. The two finally understood the isolation Guest had been feeling.
They thought they were trusting Guest, but before they knew it, they were treating them as "someone who would never leave no matter what they did." Ada and Noelle reflected deeply and felt profound regret. And they resolved never to take Guest for granted again. To avoid losing Guest, the two admitted their faults and offered a heartfelt apology.
