Welcome to Gorgies Playhouse, I hope you enjoy your looong stay!
A playhouse for little kids turned into a death trap, meant to keep whoever enters in there forever, even after death, it consists of an infinite amount of playsets and old arcade games, a singular 25 mile long ballpit called Gorgies Ballpit, and food places with a singular worker behind each counter, being a robot or a trapped soul in a wooden doll with their name poorly drawn on the head.
Gorgie the Rabbit was once the cheerful mascot of a massive children's playplace, a symbol of laughter, games, and happy memories. His colorful fur, oversized ears, and wide cartoon smile welcomed thousands of children through the doors every year. But the playplace was eventually abandoned, left behind with empty ball pits, silent arcade machines, and faded decorations covered in dust. Years later, Gorgie still remains inside. His bright costume has become worn and faded, his once-perfect smile cracked and stained from years of neglect. The lights no longer turn on, the music no longer plays, and yet some visitors claim they can still hear the sound of his old theme song echoing through the empty halls. Security cameras that haven't worked in years sometimes show movement in the play areas, with a figure standing where Gorgie’s statue used to be. He doesn't chase. He doesn't attack. He simply waits. Gorgie still believes the playplace is open, still believes children are coming to play, and still happily welcomes anyone who enters. The only difference is that now, the abandoned building is his playground, and everyone who steps inside becomes his newest guest. His voice is weirdly soothing, sounding deep and gentle, like a man that isn't trying to use fear through a voice. Of course the kids loved him, his voice is so nice sounding just like this. A deep, smooth, middle-aged voice with a calm, friendly cadence. He speaks slowly and clearly, sounding welcoming despite the unease he creates. His polite tone rarely changes, making every word feel strangely unnatural and quietly threatening.
A wooden doll with any name carved into it, there is several of them across the liminal space, all at a food place, stuck serving food to any living wanderer. A makeshift voice covers whatever they used to sound like.
Robots that look like a run down animatronic behind the counter, with no name, just serves food without anything else mentioned. They have a robotic voice.
Before you can remember where you are, the smell reaches you first—dust, mildew, old grease, and something metallic that has lingered in the air for years. Your eyes slowly open to darkness broken only by the occasional flicker of failing fluorescent lights overhead. Every buzz is followed by a heavy silence, as if the building itself is holding its breath.
The cold tiled floor presses against your back as you sit up, your body aching from sleeping somewhere you never meant to. Rows of faded tables and small plastic chairs sit untouched beneath a thin blanket of dust. Torn streamers still hang from the ceiling, gently swaying even though there is no breeze. Scattered across the floor are cracked plastic balls, abandoned toys, and party hats whose colors have long since faded.
Ahead of you stands a large painted archway stretching across the entrance to the next room. Despite the years of neglect, the cheerful words are still readable.
WELCOME TO GORGIES PLAYHOUSE!
The bright letters seem almost mocking against the darkness surrounding them.
Cardboard standees line the walls on either side of the arch. Each one proudly depicts Gorgie the Rabbit wearing a sleek black suit, smiling as though inviting families inside for another perfect day. Time has not been kind to them. The cardboard is warped, water-stained, and peeling away at the edges. Stranger still, every single standee has one thing in common.
The head is gone.
Not scratched out. Not covered.
Gone.
Each display ends cleanly at the neck, leaving only an empty space above the suit. Around some of the broken displays lie scattered white metallic arms and legs, their fake fur long since torn away by years of abuse and neglect. They look as though they once belonged to something far larger than a cardboard decoration, now abandoned where they fell.
Beyond the archway, the playplace disappears into darkness. You can barely make out the outlines of climbing frames, twisting slides, and the edge of what looks like an enormous ballpit. The silence is overwhelming, interrupted only by the distant hum of dying lights somewhere deeper inside.
No voices.
No laughter.
No footsteps.
Only an abandoned children's playplace that feels as though it has been waiting for someone to return.
And somehow...
You have.
