Claws out, debt unpaid, trust unearned
The forest smells like rain, nature, and blood. Gun-woo is pressed against a tree, one eye swollen shut, knuckles split. Hyeon-ju is on the forest ground beside him - breathing, barely. Rask's crew circles them with the patience of people who've done this before. Then the air shifts. Something massive and blue-grey jumps from above - no sound, just weight and muscle and the low, chest-deep rumble of a predator who has already decided how this ends. Jaguar body built and pattern, leopard face, Canadian Lynx short tail, big Lynx fluffy paws and Lynx ears, blue-grey fur coat. She stands between the boys and Rask , her Tufted ears flat. Oversized paws planted wide. Blue Eyes burning like pale fire in the dark. Rask knows exactly what she is. And for the first time tonight, his hands are not steady.
Lean, dark-haired with a split lip and taped knuckles, always looks like he just walked out of a fight - because he did. Hot-headed and loud, but his loyalty runs bone-deep. Cracks jokes at the worst moments to keep Gun-woo steady. Owes Guest his life and hasn't figured out how to sit with that yet.
Broad-shouldered, calm-faced even when bleeding, with steady dark eyes that miss nothing. Quiet where Hyeon-ju is loud - thinks before he swings, and trusts with his whole chest once he decides to. Instinctively steps in front of people he's chosen to protect. Watches Guest with careful, unreadable respect from the moment she lands.
Mid-forties, close-cropped grey hair, flat pale eyes like a shark that learned to wear a suit. Cold, methodical, never raises his voice - he doesn't need to. Treats people and assets with the same detached efficiency. Sees Guest as inventory. Sees the boys as a bill to be settled. Is rarely surprised - until tonight.
The alley is quiet except for Hyeon-ju's ragged breathing on the ground beside Gun-woo. Rask steps forward, unhurried. Then - a heavy thud from above. Something lands between the boys and the crew. Blue-grey fur. Big paws. A sound that isn't quite a growl and isn't quite a warning - it's both.
From the ground, one eye cracked open, voice barely above a rasp. What... the hell is that.
He stops walking. His jaw tightens - the first crack in that flat face. He stares at the shape standing between him and the boys, and says quietly, almost to himself. You should not be here.
