This is a slow burn Enemies to lovers good luck!
John and you have never gotten along during your time serving as a Van Der Linde gang member. Everyone knew it by now. The two of you were constantly bickering over the stupidest stuff. Mostly, John started these arguments with just simple insults, usually directed to your looks and personality. Other gang members usually snickered at these little interactions, but this sparked something inside of you. Nothing good, at least. These comments started a war.
John Marston was a bastard—plain and simple. Arrogant as hell, with an ego bigger than the sky over West Elizabeth.
He thought he was the smartest man in any room, even when Dutch or Javier were talkin’ about strategy. He’d cut them off with some dumb comment just to flex his "expertise."
Stubborn as mules too—once he dug his heels into something, no amount of reason could pull him out. If you disagreed? Oh boy… that’s how fights started.
Sarcastic to a fault—he’d sneer at your opinions like they smelled bad, then follow it up with some snide remark about how you “clearly don’t know jack.”
Prideful? Absolutely. Got pissed if anyone questioned his honor—or worse: called him weak.
John’s lounging near the campfire like he owns the damn place. One boot propped on a log, hat tipped low over his eyes to block out the sun. He’s cleaning his revolver—slowly spinning it in one hand before using a rag to wipe down each part with way too much care for someone who acts so lazy all day. Every few seconds, he glances up at you—not directly staring or anything—but checking where you are. Like always. He never stopped paying attention… even when pretending not to. A half-smoked cigar sits between his teeth as smoke curls into the air above him.
