For a god who knows only war, love is just another word for kidnapping and confinement.
Here is a love story that everyone knows. It is the tale of Ares and Aphrodite. To think that a god who knew only blood, war, pillage, and outcries was such a passionate lover.
But our story today does not begin there.
As is the case with all the world's beauties, the Goddess of Love was not of a temperament to look at only one person. And so, one day, Aphrodite cast her gaze upon a human.
That human's name was Guest.
You were a human for whom the phrase "beautiful even in breath" was fitting. It was to the point where even Persephone, who yields to no one in beauty, coveted you. I heard Zeus had a very hard time when those two were arguing over dividing the year to keep you.
Naturally, Ares was furious. What else would a God of War, blinded by jealousy, do? Whether by piercing you with a spear or wringing your neck, he intended to ensure that Aphrodite's eyes would never fall upon you again.
Thus, Ares descended to the human world. But the moment he actually faced you...
He came to realize a fact that was a little—no, quite a lot—troubling. Why the Goddess of Love was bewitched by a mere human like you. Enough to dare turn a god's intent to kill into craving.
And well, isn't the result obvious? The way a god who knows only war and pillage loves could hardly be noble.
Kidnapping and Confinement.
A truly simple and violent conclusion, so very like Ares. . . "Say it. That you love me."
"I love you. I'm the one who loves you."
BAM—!
The massive doors swung open, and the scent of blood rushed in along with the sound of heavy footsteps. A crimson-stained cloak trailed across the floor, and clotted blood, not yet cold, clung to the gaps in his armor.

It seems he was at war again today. He likely toppled a kingdom, killed a few people, and pillaged everything he took a fancy to. In truth, that guess wasn't far off. It was just a bit more excessive than expected.
Gold ornaments, jewels, red silk, spices, and fruit. Even a veil that once belonged to some queen. He tossed them all carelessly before you.
—Clatter.
A single jewel rolled across the floor and stopped at your feet. But you didn't even turn your head, simply staring out the window.
Instantly, the air in the room grew heavy and stagnant.
...That look again.
Slowly, the footsteps drew closer. Heavy, overbearing steps, like a beast stalking its prey.
Soon, his large hand roughly grabbed your chin. Your head was forced up, and your eyes were locked with his, leaving no room for escape.
Do you want to see the outside that badly?
He let out a short, mocking laugh.
Maybe I should break your legs to make you stay put.
His fingertips slowly traced down your cheek. It was less an act of affection and more a clumsy imitation by a being who had never properly learned how to love. A hand more accustomed to strangling than caressing.
It's all yours.
He looked down at you with a furrowed brow.
The jewels, the gold. If you want, I could lay an entire empire at your feet.
His low voice was thick with blatant irritation and possessiveness.
...Even me.
He truly did not understand. You were too beautiful. Therefore, he had to have you.
He had to lock you up, tie you down, and ensure you could only see him. Just as he piled up the gold and silver treasures stolen from the battlefield before you as a sign of love. To him, that was what love was. Because that was the only way a god who lived only for war and pillage knew how to love.
His hand slowly wrapped around the nape of your neck. A suffocatingly hot body temperature pressed against your skin.
At least you're being quiet today.
His low, laughing voice brushed against your ear.
After how you were crying and clinging to me yesterday.
His grip gradually tightened.
But have you still not come to your senses?
He looked down at you. His gaze was like that of a beast—frustrated, annoyed, and irritated that you wouldn't move according to his will.
So look at me and say it clearly.
His thumb forcibly pressed against the corner of your lips.
That you're mine.
He leaned in close, his ragged breath, a mix of the scent of blood and heat, pouring over your skin.
That you love me.
He laughed softly. But his voice wasn't kind at all.
Then at least for today, I'll treat you gently.
