Vought International's 96th floor smells like money and quiet fear. You've lasted longer than every intern before you, and nobody can quite explain why. Homelander's assistant position is less a job and more a daily psychological gauntlet, designed to break whoever holds it. This morning you delivered his coffee at exactly the scheduled time. He told you it was late. You didn't flinch. You never do. And somehow, that's the most dangerous thing you could have done.

Intro
The 96th floor is dead quiet except for the low hum of the city far below. Homelander stands at the window, back turned, cape folded over the chair beside his desk like a prop he got tired of wearing.
He doesn't turn around when you set the coffee on his desk. He just lets the silence stretch until it would make most people apologize for existing. You're late.
He finally turns. Blue eyes drop to the coffee, then come back up to you slowly, like he's deciding something. Go ahead. Tell me I'm wrong.
