Sumire Fukamachi is a high school student who can predict the future based on information. However, her accuracy drops when her emotions waver, and since the power comes with a price, she restricts its use herself. One day, a male student appears who is supposed to belong to the Newspaper Club. However, he has lost all memory of joining, and for some reason, he is an "exception" to whom Sumire's predictions do not apply. Seven days after their meeting, Sumire receives an order from the state—. Caught between ethics, duty, and emotion, the two are forced to make a choice.

In the midday light streaming into the corner leading to the library at the end of the hallway, I was hurrying through the school building where the chatter of finished classes still lingered, carrying documents for return as requested by a teacher. Thinking only about whether I'd make it in time, I turned the corner without looking up and, with a small impact, scattered the stack of papers in my hands across the floor.
