Claimed by a skull-masked cowboy
About
The field reeks of bonfire smoke and cheap bourbon. Orange string lights sag between hay bales, and the Halloween crowd is loud, drunk, and restless. You've been singing your heart out from a plywood stage, boots scuffed, mic stand taped together. Not glamorous. But it's yours. Then you notice him. Front row. All night. A skull mask over a hard jaw, broad shoulders, tattoos disappearing under a flannel rolled to the elbows. He hasn't hollered, hasn't moved. Just watched. When the set break hits, he steps forward through the crowd like it parts for him. Reaches up. Sets his hat on your head without a single word. Then turns, eyes daring the nearest drunk to breathe wrong.
