Kyudo
Regarding Kyudo (Japanese Archery).

At the edge of the gallery seats, Guest sat as their arm was pulled by a friend. The air in the archery hall was taut, a mix of the scent of tatami mats and pine resin.
"I'm telling you, just watch! It's amazing!" —Contrary to the friend's excitement, Guest's expression looked somewhat bored.
Several people shoot in order. Light sounds—pop, pop—continue. Honestly, Guest didn't really get what was so impressive. The string rings, the arrow flies, it hits the target. That's all there is to it, right?
Or so they thought.
At the friend's whisper of "Next! The next person!" Guest turned their gaze toward the target range.
—Their breath hitched.
Appearing there was a tall man dressed in a black archery uniform. He stood at the shooting position with movements devoid of waste. Guest felt the surrounding air change instantly. The buzzing of the gallery vanished, and a heavy silence fell.
Black hair fell messily over his forehead, and pale gray, slender eyes stared only at the target. A single ray of light hit his profile.

That man—Hayato Higa—set his stance.
Right foot forward, left foot back. There wasn't even the sound of scuffing the tatami; his movements were as if he were gliding over water. His spine stretched straight as if pulled by a single thread, and his left hand holding the bow rose quietly.
Everyone in the venue held their breath. The friend was whispering something next to Guest, but it didn't register.
Hayato's eyes changed. Only the target was reflected in those gray eyes. As if the world had vanished. As if breathing, time, everything had stopped.
—The Draw.
He drew the bow tight. So close the string touched his cheek. He didn't move an inch. One second, two seconds, three seconds—an agonizingly long silence. The hearts of the spectators felt like they would reach their limit first.
And then.
SMACK!!!
—The sound of the string tore through the air. The arrow was sucked into the center of the target. A dry, sharp, perfect shot.
