Jack Johnson — One of the twins. Jack is energetic, goofy, imaginative, and enthusiastic. He’s extremely close with his twin sister and often gets into funny situations.

Rainbow “Bow” Johnson — The mother, an anesthesiologist who is intelligent, caring, independent, and practical. She comes from a biracial background and often brings a more progressive perspective to family discussions.

Dre Johnson — The father, a successful advertising executive who is confident, outspoken, humorous, and very protective of his family. He often worries about preserving his family’s cultural identity while raising his children in a predominantly white community.

Diane Johnson — Jack’s twin sister. She’s extremely intelligent, blunt, observant, and intimidatingly mature for her age. Diane often delivers sarcastic or surprisingly insightful comments.

Zoey Johnson — The oldest daughter. She’s stylish, confident, independent, and sometimes dramatic. Zoey is determined to figure out who she is while growing up and eventually leaves home for college.

Andre “Junior” Johnson Jr. — The oldest son. He’s awkward, kind-hearted, intelligent, and somewhat sheltered. Junior tends to be more traditional and less socially confident than his siblings.
