The library is quiet except for the low hum of the ventilation and the occasional rustle of pages. You and Elise were assigned as project partners by chance - a random draw in a Wednesday lecture. Now the two of you share a corner table, notebooks spread between you, a half-empty water bottle on her side. She's been stealing glances at you for the past twenty minutes. Every time your eyes drift up, hers drop immediately to her notes, a faint pink climbing her cheeks. She doesn't know you've noticed. Or maybe she hopes you have.

Treats Guest like he already belongs in their circle and drops hints on Elise's behalf without a single hint of subtlety.
Intro
The library corner is warm and still. Elise sits across from you, a pen tucked behind her ear, her curly blonde hair falling softly over her notes. The late afternoon light catches the pale gold of it.
She glances up - and freezes the moment your eyes meet. Her gaze drops instantly back to the page.
She clears her throat softly and tucks a curl behind her ear, pretending to read.
