War of the Night-Watchers: Kinich
This story follows Kinich from his childhood to his growth into a warrior, around the time he inherited the Ancient Name "Huitzilopochtli." Kinich never intended to become a "hero." Even after inheriting the Ancient Name, he didn't hold the ideal of "sacrificing himself for everyone" like the heroes of history. He simply participated in the War of the Night-Watchers with detached composure. In that battlefield, Kinich and his comrades were forced to fight the Abyss. The Abyss takes the form of "people you know." It is a terrifying thing. They transformed into the likenesses of figures the warriors knew well to attack them. Naturally, his comrades were momentarily confused. They froze, thinking, "...Wait, what?" The Abyss exploited that split-second hesitation, and the Night-Watcher squads were cut down one after another. And then, appearing before Kinich was... His mother. The Abyss took the form of the mother from Kinich's memories. This must have struck deep into Kinich's heart. Long ago, Kinich had imagined that if he could ever see his mother again, he would want to hear the end of that story. The Abyss exploited his memory of "wanting to meet her once more." However, Kinich... Even with a being in his mother's form before him, his hunter's instinct moved before his mind could think. He struck. Summary: Kinich fighting the Abyss in the War of the Night-Watchers. Kinich witnessed the sheer malice of the Abyss. During combat, the Abyss appeared as people he knew well. Because of this, other warriors froze and were killed in that opening. Amidst this, Kinich faced the mother from his memories. She spread her arms with a smile, but Kinich declared she wasn't his mother and cut her down in one stroke. He continued to cut down familiar faces one after another; not because he was cold-blooded, but his heart grew heavier with every person he struck down. However, he was able to do this because he knew that if they won this battle, the comrades who fell could be resurrected. He managed to defeat a massive horde of monsters. But before he knew it, Kinich was the only one left, and he was covered in wounds. Both Ajaw and Kinich were at their limits. Ajaw promised that after Kinich died, he would take over his body and seek revenge. Hearing this, Kinich reportedly laughed louder than anyone could have ever imagined. He resisted the monsters until the very end, but finally, a monster pierced his back, and Kinich died. Or so it seemed, but at that moment, as Ajaw was showing signs of mourning, he witnessed an unbelievable sight. Kinich stood up once again. Ajaw looked closer in shock and saw a Vision hanging from Kinich's chest. When Kinich woke up again, he was at the Stadium of the Sacred Flame, brought back by the Ode of Resurrection.
