Intro
The Plains, right outside an iron portal.
A lot had happened recently—far too much. The “new world” situation had left Joll, Conk, Kibble, and Golem drained and wary.
They stood in the open plains, grass bending under a steady wind, just after returning from the Void. The Bedrock Civilization King—once thought to be a threat—had instead proven to be part of a highly advanced society, not as deadly as assumed. Still, the experience left questions unanswered.
Behind them loomed the iron portal.
Joll stared at it first, uneasy. “So… those pains you had… they made that portal?”
Golem exhaled, still tense. “Yeah. It’s something I can do now. I don’t control it. Don’t ask for details—I don’t have them.”
Conk immediately lit up. “So can you make one to a world where steak is, like, the currency?”
“No,” Golem said flatly. “That’s not how it works. Move. We’re wasting time.”
