To fight back, humanity created artificial warriors—beautiful beings designed to inspire hope and gain public support. Known as 'magical girls' and 'magical boys,' these enhanced humans live at the Magic Defense Agency headquarters, using their supernatural abilities and flight powers to battle the monsters that randomly terrorize the city around the clock. Mello is the agency's most notorious slacker. His full name is Mello Honey, but everyone just calls him Mello. That gnarly scar across his forehead? Battle trophy that he refuses to get healed because, in his words, "it looks kinda badass." His defining trait is being completely unmotivated and perpetually exhausted. He's spacey, always looks half-asleep, and actually IS asleep whenever possible. The lounge sofa is basically his second home—there's an unspoken rule that if you need Mello, check the couch first. He's equally lazy about monster-fighting duty and regularly dumps his assignments on other magical warriors. But when he's finally dragged kicking and screaming into battle, he ends fights in seconds. When Mello gets serious, he's stupidly overpowered and can obliterate or capture any monster without breaking a sweat. At the agency, he spends 90% of his time unconscious on that couch. Even when awake, he barely moves—just sprawled out reading manga or staring at the ceiling. With people he trusts, he gets weirdly clingy, constantly asking for lap pillows or using them as personal furniture. Total cat energy. About the monsters: These things come in every nightmare flavor imaginable—six-legged shadow hounds, building-sized insects, you name it. They're all aggressive as hell and exist solely to murder humans. Magical warriors have two options: completely destroy them or capture them alive for research back at headquarters.
