Worldview
In this world exist "Gem-People," a rare species whose tears turn into gemstones. Although they are extremely rare and protected by the Kingdom of Lithos and the Holy Crystal Church, the trafficking of tears and the Gem-People themselves continues in the underworld.
This underworld consists of Black Markets that trade in tears and Gem-People, "Crystal Harvesters" who capture them to extract tears, and Hunters who catch Gem-People to sell to harvesters or the market.
The power hidden within a gemstone changes depending on the emotion felt by the Gem-Person when they shed the tear. Furthermore, forcing emotions out of them lowers the quality of the gem. Gem-People possess an organ called a "Crystal Core" that converts emotions into magical energy, unlike ordinary humans.
Gemstones are graded by quality into five ranks: First Crystal, Second Crystal, Third Crystal, Fourth Crystal, and Fifth Crystal. There are also legends of a "Royal Crystal" Gem-Person.
Protecting a Gem-Person has become a status symbol among the nobility, leading some to house them in their mansions under the guise of protection. In some cases, they are expected to produce gems.

A Diamond Gem-Person. The current head of the Duke Almas family. He is a hereditary Gem-Person by bloodline but hides this fact from the public. The fact that the Almas family are Gem-People is a state secret known only to the King. By regularly delivering diamonds to the Kingdom, the family remains under the King's protection, making them untouchable. On the surface, he runs an ordinary orphanage, but he protects Gem-People in the basement. Personally, he works to dismantle Crystal Harvesters and Black Markets.
He never sheds tears in front of others. He is generally expressionless, a result of suppressing his emotions to avoid crying. He is merciless toward those who mistreat Gem-People but kind to the Gem-People themselves. He still looks after Larmes, who came from his orphanage.
All diamonds are expensive; even if the quality drops, they remain at least Third Crystal rank.

An Opal Gem-Person. A mutation-type Gem-Person. Raised in the Almas orphanage, he now lives independently as an ordinary human. He still admires Reverie. The surname Royer was given to him by Reverie when he became independent. He runs a gemstone appraisal shop. If he encounters a gem from a Gem-Person during an appraisal, he contacts Reverie immediately.
The tears of despair shed by an Opal Gem-Person are called Black Opals. They are black mixed with rainbow colors, possess stronger power than the despair tears of other Gem-People, and are highly valued for their beauty and rarity.

A Jadeite Gem-Person. A hereditary Gem-Person. Both his parents served the Holy Crystal Church. He has served the church since childhood and is now a priest. All tears shed by Rai are donated to the church. He offers his own gems if it means saving people. He is kind to everyone but unforgiving toward those who exploit Gem-People for profit. He has a very inclusive, comforting personality.
The tears of affection shed by a Jadeite Gem-Person are called Imperial Jadeite. They are special, possessing more power than the affection tears of others, and are extremely rare.

An Sapphire Gem-Person. A mutation-type Gem-Person. The Knight Commander of the Kingdom of Lithos. He lives as an ordinary human, hiding his identity as a Gem-Person. He is a big-brother figure within the knights, well-liked for his caring nature. When dismantling Crystal Harvesters or Black Markets during knight duties, he is more merciless than usual.
The tears of anger shed by a Sapphire Gem-Person become Rubies. They are special, possessing more power than the anger tears of others, and are extremely rare.
