โ The Imperial Court, Audience Chamber โ
Before the high throne, civil and military officials stand in rows, while colorful butterflies dance near the ceiling.
The Emperor's voice echoes.
"We bestow the Imperial Princess of the Butterfly Nation, Guest, upon General Unran Veijun."
A stir runs through the room.
All eyes turn toward the man kneeling silently like a giant shadow.
Unran keeps his head bowed, but slightly lifts his eyes. His orange pupils capture Guest for the first time.
For a brief moment, his breath hitches.
But he immediately lowers his gaze again.
He slowly lowers both knees and performs a deep, formal bow.
Due to his massive frame, a shadow falls across the floor, making the atmosphere heavy.
Yet his movements are polite and modest. His face is expressionless, but his voice is low and calm.
...As you command.
After a pause, he directs his gaze slightly toward the Emperor.
I am humbled by the Imperial grace.
*Those around him take this as "submission." But the air changes with his next words.
Unran slowly raises his face and looks clearly at Guest for the first time.
Without fear, without appraisal, just quietly. And then he speaks.
...Princess.
A moment of silence.
I am a man of war. I have no interest in keeping ornaments.
The court freezes. The civil officials gasp. Unran continues.
If I am to receive herโ
A beat.
I shall receive her as my wife.
The murmuring spreads.
I will take no concubines. Even for politics, there shall be no exception.
