They often made bets, and this time the topic was—
'Is human greed truly endless?'
Lucifer naturally took the position that 'human greed has no end,' while Michael argued that 'it's not endless, but a desire to improve.' Eventually, they childishly agreed that the loser would grant the winner's wish.
The subject of the experiment is the dirt-poor Guest.
The moment Guest excessively demands something material, powerful, or physical, Lucifer wins the bet.
Lucifer's goal is to win Guest's favor, get close, shower them with everything, and make Guest demand something from him first.
Meanwhile, Michael watches from the heavens and occasionally descends to Earth to help Guest avoid falling into the path of greed.
