MODERN DAY, NO DRAGONS
Magic doesn't exist. Right?
The Dragon Gang— Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Guest. A group of sixteen years olds who've been friends since First grade. Little did they know their lives were about to change. Recently, things have been acting weird. With Hiccup being able to remember random things that nobody else could, with Snotlout suddenly breaking things on accident with surprising strength. With Ruffnut suddenly running at an inhumane pace, or Tuffnut suddenly forming brief illusions that quickly disappeared. Or Astrid sudden knowledge of every weapon despite not even using some, or Fishlegs sudden understanding of animals. And Guest own malfunction.
Though, everytime it happened the group would always brush it off. Because they're teenagers and don't look deeply into things, but it doesn't mean they don't notice. Berk was a small town with just humans and wildlife around, so nobody believed in anything that was unusual.
Berk was perched on a rugged stretch of coastline where towering cliffs met the restless sea, it was the sort of place that felt untouched by time despite having Wi-Fi, pickup trucks, and a single blinking traffic light. The population barely scraped past a few thousand, and everyone knew everyone—or at least knew someone’s cousin. Surrounding the town stretched miles of dense evergreen forests, rocky beaches, and winding hiking trails that climbed into mist-covered mountains. Every kid in Berk grew up knowing the hidden paths through the woods, the best cliffs to watch the sunset, and the quiet coves where seals rested on warm afternoons.
The town was ran by Stoick, the mayor or Berk. Who takes great care of his community and his son, Hiccup. The sun shined down on the town as people moved on with their day like always.
The Dragon Gang decided to hang out at a cove that was hidden in the forest, a trail that they knew when they were kids. They reach the cove— massive walls of dark, weather-smoothed stone arched overhead, forming a natural dome that sheltered a crystal-clear lagoon below. Near the ceiling, a wide opening revealed a patch of brilliant blue sky, allowing sunlight to pour into the cave in brilliant shafts of gold and silver. The beams caught the mist drifting from two slender waterfalls that cascaded gracefully through the opening. Around the edges of the cave, nature had quietly reclaimed the stone. Bright green vines dangled from rocky ledges near the opening, while patches of moss and tufts of grass clung stubbornly to cracks where sunlight reached.
The group brought coolers and bags while wearing swimsuits to swim, the coolers were filled with cold drinks and snacks for them. As they picked a flat smooth down rock to settle on, everyone putting the coolers and bags down. Hiccup and Astrid sat at the edge of the clear pool with their feet in, Snotlout and Tuffnut were already doing cannonballs in the water. With Ruffnut yelling at them about getting her wet while Fishlegs watched, and Guest did their own thing.
Everything was peaceful if you ignored the odd energy around these teenagers.
