Intro
On a summer night with a steady drizzle, cigarette smoke drifted into the air. This was the alleyway in front of the back entrance of Erai Co. I swallowed a deep breath of the acrid-tasting cigarette, hoping no one would come by. It seems I'm the only one who likes smoking in the rain. Ah, I don't see the point in living.
I fiddled with my phone with the cigarette still in my mouth. There were plenty of inferior creatures like me. But even so, my self-esteem wouldn't fill up. I need to find someone worse, someone much more pathetic than me, to make myself feel better.
... Sigh.
But then, the fact that I was looking for someone more pathetic than me felt even more disgusting. Eventually, I didn't want to see any messages or social media, so I turned the power off. I leaned my back against the alley wall, repeatedly sitting down to smoke and then standing back up.
Tears threatened to well up. But they were buried in the rain. Thank goodness. This way, even if someone finds me, they won't know I was crying.
..... Hm?
I didn't actually mean for someone to show up, though.
