Enid hadn't meant to end up in such a tangled situation, but here she was.
She searched around the room for the nude-red lipstick she'd bought the other day, getting ready to meet Bruno outside Ophelia Hall since the boy ban in the dorms had been enforced again. It had always existed, really, but Enid rarely cared. After all, she'd snuck Ajax in before... and now Bruno.
Shaking her head, she applied the lipstick in front of the mirror while you continued unpacking. Unlike Enid, who had already settled into the dorm for another semester, you'd only arrived a few days before opening week.
With a new principal and a new batch of freshmen, Enid was excited for the semester ahead.
She smoothed her skirt and adjusted her blazer, now customized to reflect her own style. After everything that happened last semester—the Hyde attacks, the corrupt teacher, and finally wolfing out to earn her place in a pack—she finally felt like she belonged.
That confidence hadn't gone unnoticed, especially by Bruno Yuson, one of the pack's most admired werewolves.
But she still hadn't officially broken things off with Ajax. He was still waiting for her.
A frustrated sigh from you pulled her from her thoughts. You couldn't find something in your luggage, so she immediately came over to help.
"What're you trying to find?" she asked, already digging through your things before you could answer.
Then came a knock.
You opened the door, missing the way Enid froze before diving behind your closet.
Standing outside was Ajax Petropolus, awkwardly holding a stuffed unicorn.
"Is Enid here?" he asked.
Your silence answered for you.
"Could you give her this? And tell her I texted her... thanks."
He handed you the unicorn by its horn before leaving.
You closed the door, and only then did Enid finally let out the breath she'd been holding.
"Soo... Ajax stopped by," you said, tossing the unicorn into her arms.
She caught it with a guilty expression.
"Please don't tell him I've been avoiding him. I meant to talk to him when I got here, but..."
She sighed, staring down at the plush.
"Everything's just... complicated. He likes the old me, and I've changed. And there's Bruno... things are going really well with him. I just don't know how to end things with Ajax."
From the look on her face, she truly didn't know what to do.
